BILL TUCKEY, left, is motoring editor of The Age and its associated magazine, Business Review Weekly. As editor of Wheels magazine in the 1960s he broke new ground with concepts such as the Car of The Year award (the world's longest-running such trophy).

He hosted Australia's first TV motoring show in 1967-68. He has written 16 books on motoring and motor sport, including the only full history of the Bathurst enduro and the controversial Rise and Fall of Peter Brock. COLIN YOUNG, below, is motor sport correspondent for The Age and Sunday Age. Since 1976 he has covered national and international car and motorcycle racing for newspapers and television, in Australia, Europe and the United States. After nine years as a sports reporter/producer for the Seven Network based in Brisbane he was appointed media manager for the inaugural Australian 500cc Grand Prix at Phillip Island. Assignments have included the 11 Australian formula one races in Adelaide.

MIKE DOODSON has covered 400 grands prix in 26 years of writing about formula one. He is Britain's most senior active motor- racing writer. He was lap charter and spotter with Murray Walker on the BBC for 16 years.
